How to oil paint?? Just Starting.?

I'm looking to start oil painting but I don't know the first thing about it. I do a lot of sketching, colored pencil, pastels, etc. I have a TON of questions. I just don't know where to start. I'm really interested though.

Where do I buy paints online?

What are mediums?

What type of material do I paint on?

Really any information about the basics of oil painting would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! How to oil paint?? Just Starting.?
Yuh, but no, find a michaels store, they have everything you could possibly need..

Beedee or w/e forgot something important, you must prime your canvas, Which basically means you must create a barrier from you medium ( in this case it's oils, the paint) to the canvas. Because the canvas will absorb the paint and through time will leave dry spots. So if you have ghesso, it's this weird stuff mainly used for acyrlics, just put a layer of that down as your base, let it dry. Or if you don't have that, you can use titanium white acyrlic paint, but again make sure it dries, after you put that down on the canvas you can now begin to paint with w/e colors you want.

mediums are what you're workin' with. This case Oil.

Make sure to clean your brushes with turbentine, and keep it covered it evaporates. and Uh, good luck. How to oil paint?? Just Starting.?
You can buy supplies at any of the following: Jerry's Artarama, Dick Blick, Utrecht, and sometimes you can find deals on Etsy and Ebay.

Medium is the material you are using ie Oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite or charcoal for example.

Since you are beginning use canvas or canvas board. Oil can be used on many different surfaces once you are practiced.

Sketch what you want to paint on the canvas/canvas board. Use some raw umber or burnt sienna oil paint diluted with some turpentine...to brush on your sketch. Then paint in your darker colors.....for oil paintings I work dark colors to light colors. Watercolors are light colors to dark. So with the oils...the highlights are the very last thing you do with the painting...then your signature.

Good luck and have fun. This is just the beginning.
