How to apply paint on metal?can gloss paint be used for it?

You must first use a metal primer. Then you can put gloss paint over it.

I wish you had said what you are painting. You can use ';Rustoleum';Primer and finish coat for almost anything.I wouldn't use water base paint for metal.9/21How to apply paint on metal?can gloss paint be used for it?
What are you painting? Is it indoor or outdoor? Indoor, you can use eggshell [ sort of satin finish] on radiators, as well as the various gloss paints. Make sure you rub off all loose paint and give a primer coat if the item hasn''t been painted before.

Outdoors, for things like decorative lamp posts, gates, garden furniture, I always find Hammerite paint the best. Again , good prep is essential. If you are painting aluminium garden furniture, you need a special red coloured primer first as ordinary primer doesn't seem to work.

Whatever it is go to you nearest B%26amp;Q/ Home Depot and ask advise, the folk there will give you good advice. How to apply paint on metal?can gloss paint be used for it?
If the metal is already painted, then you paint it the same way and with the same paint as you would for wood. One undercoat and then one gloss.

If the metal is bare then it needs to be primed. If the metal is ferrous (iron based) then you use red oxide primer. If it is non ferrous( galvanaised, aluminium, zinc) then an etching primer is required. Then you paint as you would, wood.
hey there, i'm a painter and decorator.... it would help if you said what kind of metal you are painting! if it is your normal out door railings you can use normal undercoat then gloss, if it is new railings and are galvanised steel you must give them a coat of T-wash either that the paint with flake of in a matter of months! if if is lead you can use hammerite.... one more thing.... make sure all surfaces are rubbed down and all rust is scraped and dusted down well before you apply paint.... gd luck
First clean up the surface and make it rust free, then apply metallic primer, let it dry then go for any enamel of any type of metallic paint. yes you can find many types of glossy paints in market for metal.
yes you can, make sure surface is rust free, you can get gloss paint that tells you on the can wether its for metal or wood,or for both metal and wood.like dulux or hammerite.
Use Hammerite. No primer needed, except on galvanised or aluminium. You can even paint directly onto rust, provided it isn't loose or flaking. Stocked by Halfords, Brewers or any Paint Store.
Yes you can use regular gloss paint on metal although if possible apply with a small foam roller and maybe give it a second coat after.
