auto primer and paint are hazerdous materials, they cannot be applied with a brush, so if you are going to buy an air brush and a compresser along with all the other supplies just for one door, you are a lot bettter off just getting it done by a pro. it will save you money and usualy the work is warented!
If there is primer on it, sand that with 320 wet/dry sand paper and a block (rubber sand paper holder) using water, then dry with clean air and paint it. Do not stop moving as you spray and give a few moments between coats. The final coat should be fairly smooth if all goes well. Once it has dried, using the block and 600 wet/dry sand it (with water) and buff it with polishing compound and you should have a job close to what was on it in the first place
