Am currently getting my whole house redecorated %26amp; costs seem to be (in SE England, at least) 拢100/day for a jobbing decorator, 拢120/day for plasterer or up to 拢150/day if needed in emergency. Expect a small discount if there's lots of work to be done but if they're hardworking then that only works out at 拢9-拢11/hour (a bit more for the plasterer) which seems a pretty fair rate to me.





The duration really does depend on the state of repair once you get the paper off, how many layers are encrusted on the wall, whether it's been painted over etc but with a good steamer it should only take a day to get rid of most papers, one day per room for plastering (if needed) and half a day to a day per coat of paint - One of my rooms had a spray-painted mural which has taken 3 coats of undercoat to cover it up!!!

how long is a piece of string? it depends on the size of the room ,in what state the plaster underneath the wallpaper is because it needs to be good enough to be painted do you want the ceiling done as well because if not it will look tatty....etc
If you do it yourself, it will be free. Just time consuming. You can rent a wallpaper steamer that will make it come off very, very easily.





Then prep the walls and buy the paint.....very inexpensive. If you hire someone to do it, it will be expensive.
Wessex guide would suggest approx 拢1.14 m2 which is about 拢5.94 a roll of paper and 拢1.22 %26amp; 拢6.35 in staircase areas. So if a room took 10 rolls of paper I would charge approx 拢59.40 to strip and prep.





Problem is, paper can be really stuck sometimes and they could be an alot of prep work once off, so it tends to be a guess-timate as opposed to an estimate. Someone in the trade would normally go by days, so a staircase could be 1 man 2 days. 拢100 a day ish. So quotes could vary a lot.





Painting? Need to see and quote. Woodwork, reveals etc.. to look at.
Don't be lazy, get on with it.

How old is the wallpaper? If not too old then it may have sealer under it. If no sealer or paint you risk taking layers off the wallboard surface which will slow you down tremendously. I have never paid to have it done. Buy good wallpaper and seal if you plan to keep the house. If short term, who gives a rip! ( no pun intended)
Just pull off the loose wall paper and use textured paint. It's really more like a primer. You can brush it on or use a trowel. It's quite thick and heavy. If you use a trowel, it will more than likely show signs of rust from the trowel and require painting. Very good for using on ceilings. If using on drywall, pull off the any tape that covers the sections of drywall.





It's almost like plastering. It's fairly cheap. You do have to wait about 24 hours for it to dry and then paint over that. You will also have to develop a pattern, swirls, circles or whatever. The good news is that is takes so long to dry, you can experient with it until you get a pattern that you like.
depends how big the room is, and if the walls need filling or sanding, but an normal size front room say 6ft by 5ft would cost about 拢350 that's for two men, for two and a half days, if it was just one man or women like my self it would be less.
