How can I paint toy models to give them a realistic look?

Paint the lowest parts of the model in black or grey. Then paint the colour on top when this is dry. Add tint (the colour with white added) to the high parts of the model and you will achieve a more realistic shading. How can I paint toy models to give them a realistic look?
There is a paint that is specifically formulated for models. You have to look for it in hobby shops. It's called Testors paint. I may have spelled it wrong, but the store will know what you are talking about. You could also go to some toy stores that sell model kits, they usually sell the paint, as well as the kits.
