What you want to do is called ';faux finishing'; or ';graining.';





You can create this effect by layering a couple of brown colors and using a graining tool that you drag across the surface and make irregular grain lines.

A wood graining kit.... A base color followed by a graining stain applied with a graining comb or even a feather, followed by a sealer. . It's a form of art work, and very acceptable if done correctly
