How to paint flea market furniture?

First do the prep work.

Tightening screws, renailing, removing hardware.

Then lightly sand the piece to get good adhesion from the new paint.

You can use a water base primer like Kilz2 for the first coat.

After a couple of hours of dry time, you can paint the finish color of choice. Use Latex (water base) paints for your furniture.

Use good quality paint, Olympic, behr, kilz.

The first thing to do is to see if there are any cracks or broken areas that need to be fixed. Make sure the drawers or door open and close correctly. Decide if you want to keep the knobs or handles of if you want to replace them. Some newer knobs have different hole set-ups.

Once the piece is as you want it you can prepare for the color.

Next you can lightly sand down the piece if it is made of wood and apply a primer base. Once that is dry; lightly sand again if the wood feels rough. Today's paints are made to adhere to slick surfaces so you may not need to prime.

Decide on the color you want and paint your first coat. Once that is thoroughly dry you can put on the final coat. Now attach the knobs and handles.

Avoid using the piece for a few days to let the paint cure. How to paint flea market furniture?
