How many coats of paint do i apply to a dry plastered wall?

After it has thoroughly dried, apply a coat of primer to seal the wall, then 1-2 coats of finish paint. I would recommend 2 coats since this is the first time the wall is being painted. Some colors, such as deep reds, may require more to get better coverage, but you can solve this by having the primer tinted. Hope this helps. How many coats of paint do i apply to a dry plastered wall?
Woodtick is correct...One thing I would add is that you should use latex (water-base) paint and latex primer.

Much easier to work with than oil-base and less toxic.

For main living areas, bedrooms, halls, use satin finish. Flat on ceilings.

For baths and Kitchen, use semi-gloss. Semi-gloss on ceiling in bath, flat in kitchen.

My new favorite paint is Olympic 0 VOC, low odor. About $20 a gallon. Hundreds of colors. Goes on beautifully, hardly any smell at all.

After the drywall is finished, using a damp cloth, wipe off the dust from the sanding process. Let dry.

For best results so the nap doesn't lift on the drywall paper, use a drywall primer. I like Bull's Eye 1-2-3

but any drywall primer will do.

If you can't get this for whatever reason, you should use an OIL-based primer. A water-based primer may lift the paper on the drywall.

Enjoy!
Hi,

You should apply one coat of primer/sealer (have it tinted it to the finish color) and two coats of paint.

If you need anything else, let me know!
