How can i get black spray paint to stick on brass?

I'm tarting up my old guitar to sell it and the black paint has rubbed off of the knobs. what can i use on brass as a 'key' so the paint won't rub off so quickHow can i get black spray paint to stick on brass?
You have to roughen the surface up a little bit. That's the most important. Use sandpaper. Then you can prime it a little (i usually skip that, whatever your preference) then spray it with the paint. Let that coat dry fully, then spray again. Then you can add a gloss coat (sold as spray paint too) to seal the surface. I've done this before on a brass shelving unit i had, and it still looks good as new!How can i get black spray paint to stick on brass?
You need to use a primer first.
